Am I performance-chasing?
A transaction question asks what was bought, sold or paid, and when. The answer reads the transaction history itself, which is also what every other figure on this site is ultimately built from.
Worked through on a sample portfolio. The figures below are that portfolio’s, not yours.
I can only describe what your portfolio data shows, not judge intent. Here are facts from your history that relate to possible performance-chasing behaviour.
-
Multiple buys after big winners:
- You bought additional shares of iShares Core MSCI World UCITS ETF on 16/08/2022, 14/02/2023, 26/11/2022, 23/12/2024 and 03/03/2025; two large sells of the same ETF happened later (14/05/2024 and 24/03/2025) with realized gains reported.
- You bought Apple Inc. on 18/07/2023 (total 60 shares) after earlier increases in portfolio size.
- You bought Microsoft Corp. on 10/10/2022 and 10/05/2022, and those positions later show large unrealized gains.
-
Timing vs. returns (selected examples from your trade history and snapshots):
- The 24/03/2025 sale of iShares Core MSCI World UCITS ETF realized +995,78 € (+25,21%) on a lot first bought 16/08/2022.
- Later buys of the same ETF occurred at higher prices (e.g. 23/12/2024 at 104,24 € and 03/03/2025 at 105,76 € appear after earlier rises).
- You increased exposure to winners such as Apple Inc. and Microsoft Corp. before they contributed strongly to unrealized gains (Apple +6.502,14 €, Microsoft +4.612,87 € shown).
-
Transaction cadence and recent activity:
- Your recent_transactions count is 23 in the dataset shown, including several buys of assets that later show high unrealized gains (Bitcoin, Ethereum, Mastercard, Gold additions).
- If a holding was purchased shortly before large positive price moves and you increased size after positive returns, the data shows trade activity concentrated around winners.
What this means strictly from the data:
- Your history contains several instances where purchases happened around periods of strong performance and subsequent realized or unrealized gains. That pattern is consistent with performance-chasing behaviour, but the data alone cannot prove intent (other reasons like regular investing or rebalancing are possible).
If you want, I can show a timeline table of buys and subsequent price moves for your top holdings so you can inspect exact dates and returns.
